POLICE detected 37 drink or drug-driving offences in Ayrshire over the festive period.
The figures were released by Police Scotland, and cover the period between December 2, 2016 and January 2 this year.
During Police Scotland’s Festive Safety Campaign, more people who were stopped and checked by officers were found to be over the limit while driving.
The number of those found over the limit has risen from 2.8 per cent to 3.3 per cent in a year. This comes as the force increased their number of checks by 15 per cent on the previous year.
Overall a total of 276 people were detected for drink or drug-driving offences across the West of Scotland.
In the West of Scotland, Ayrshire had the third most drink and drug-driving offences, behind Greater Glasgow with 94.
