LOCAL amateur football teams recently put their rivalries aside to raise a fantastic £500 for the Children’s Ward at Crosshouse Hospital.
Chairman of the Ayrshire Sunday Amateur Football Association, Davie Thomson and Secretary Eddie Gibb visited the ward to hand over the cheque for £500 after every team in the league chipped in.
AFC Whitehirst, Bobby’s Bar, Castlehill Vaults Sunday Amateurs, Charlie’s Bar, Dalry Tartan, Elms AFC, Irvine No.1 CSC, Irvine Victoria Amateurs, Kilbirnie United, Killie Athletic, Kilmarnock Supporters FC, Kilwinning Sunday Amateurs and The Craft all selflessly put their hands in their pockets to support the wonderful cause.
They last year helped raise £7,200 with the help of Winton Rovers who allowed them to stage a charity game which helped The Curran family from Saltcoats to purchase an “Eye Gaze” for their son Alfie and they also donated £400 to a Dreghorn family who had Christmas presents stolen.
