KILWINNING Netball Club train at Kilwinning Academy on Mondays, at the new times of 7.30pm to 9pm. The cost is £3 per session.

The decision was taken to have one long squad this season with teams being selected on a weekly basis to play in the Glasgow and Ayrshire Netball Leagues.

The new structure has led to a successful start to the season with the team winning six out of eight matches in the Glasgow League and four out of four matches in the Ayrshire League to date.

It’s not all about hard work though and on December 12, a successful festive fun night was held over three hours at Kilwinning Academy with 48 players in attendance.

A round robin tournament was held in the large hall with fun games being in the small gym. Points were also awarded for the Bring A Tin venture which resulted in around 100 tins of food being donated to local Foodbank on Friday, December 16.

A festive hamper raffle and additional raffle prizes contributed to a total of £392 being raised on the night.

The club made a donation of £100 to Cancer Research. At the end of the night The North Pole Dancers were pronounced as the winning team and presented with a festive bottle of wine.

Other funds raised have assisted the club with their next stage of development.

Garnock Junior Netball Club commences at the new Garnock Community Campus on Tuesday, January 31 and meetings will be held every Tuesday, from 7pm until 8.30pm for secondary school pupils, costing £3 per session.

A Bounce Back to Netball Club for adults will follow the junior club each Tuesday, from 8.30pm until 9.30pm.

This club aims to encourage people to try netball for the first time or to return to netball.

Benefits of this gentle introduction to netball include a fun way to keep fit, lose weight, improve muscle tone and make new friends.

Both new clubs will be run in association with Kilwinning Netball Club and sessions will be led by their enthusiastic and passionate coaches and committee.

Anyone interested in joining any of the clubs can contact club coach Martha Thomson on 07769 691562.
