A 29-YEAR-OLD man has been fined £400 after admitting to being abusive and threatening towards his ex-partner in the Garnock Valley.

The young dad, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week where he pled guilty to being verbally abusive towards his ex because she was preventing him from seeing his young daughter.

The court heard that on April 13 last year, the accused phoned his ex-girlfriend’s house and sounded angry and began shouting and swearing at her.

He called her “a fat bitch” and threatened to go over to her home and “kick her c*** in”.

Representing the accused, solicitor Miss Kane said: “He was stopped from seeing his daughter. He admits that tensions were running high because the complainer had stopped him seeing his daughter.”

Miss Kane added that her client was now in a new relationship and that he and his ex had since been on friendly terms, having recently discussed Christmas presents together for their daughter.

She said: “They are looking to discuss the matter on a civil basis. He’s started on child maintenance for his daughter.

“He says he’s not proud of his foolish behaviour.

“He was serious about wanting to see his daughter and he had just wanted to get his point across.

“He has since apologised to the complainer.”

Sheriff McDonald told the accused: “I fully accept that emotions were running high but this is not the way to deal with this.

“You are an adult, you have a young daughter and you should be showing an example to her.”

But the Sheriff also acknowledged that there had been “no other incidents with this lady” and that the man had since apologised to the woman.

She imposed a £400 fine on him to be paid at a rate of £100 a week.
