CLAIMS have been made that the #SaveOurFerry campaign is being run by a media organisation for profit via newspaper sales.

A comment on the Choose Troon Ferry Campaign page on Facebook infers that the Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald is running the campaign and is purely for profit.

This is not the case and is yet another lie from the campaign for the ferry to move to South Ayrshire.

Although the Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald do have a campaign, it is a media campaign which aims to bring all the latest in the saga which has been running for months.

All organisation of meetings, printing of leaflets and gathering of signatures to send to the Transport Minister has been done by local elected members, groups and grassroots supporters of the campaign to ‘Keep it A to B’.

The claim that we are running this campaign to profit from it is ludicrous as the ferry terminal, the infrastructure and the footfall are absolutely key for the town of Ardrossan.

Losing the service would be catastrophic for the town and it would have a knock-on effect on North Ayrshire as a whole.

The issue has captured national and local media attention with newspapers and online publications taking the side of Troon, Ardrossan or some opting to remain impartial.

The Herald contacted the ‘Choose Troon’ campaign for comment in regards to the claims but they did not respond.
