CUSTOMERS at a popular Ardrossan pub have gone above and beyond again in their support for two local schools.

Punters from Charlie’s Bar in the town’s Glasgow Street gave generously to the annual Christmas Raffle and raised £1,730 which included £500 from one customer who wishes not to be named.

The Christmas raffle has been held annually for the past 15 years and the proceeds are split between James McFarlane School in Ardrossan and James Reid School in Saltcoats.

Paul McIvor of James McFarlane thanked those involved and stated that the money would be used to give the kids day outings in their new bus.

Presenting the cheque, Councillor John Hunter said: “In these austere times I am always humbly heartened by the hard work done by all at Charlie’s Bar and the generosity of the Ardrossan people.”
