FIREFIGHTERS raced to reports of a kitchen fire at a ground-floor flat in Kilwinning.
Appliances from Kilwinning and Ardrossan stations attended the blaze in Garnock View last Wednesday morning (February 1).
The incident was extinguished by operational crews wearing breathing apparatus and using a dry powder extinguisher.
Station Manager Derek Davidson said: “This was yet another cooking-related fire caused by distraction and lack of concentration.
“A fire in a kitchen can occur in seconds if the person cooking does not maintain full focus on the task in hand.
“Fortunately in this case the fire crews dealt with the incident quickly and safely, ventilated the property.
“No injuries were suffered to operational crew members or the householder.”
