RESIDENTS at a sheltered housing complex in Ardrossan were treated to an afternoon of celebrations to mark a major anniversary in the history of the site.

To commemorate 20 years since Hanover Housing Association’s development, Montgomerie Court, was opened in 1997, residents were treated to a buffet lunch complete with birthday decorations and a special cake. The residents were then tested in an exciting general knowledge quiz and some were lucky enough to win big at the birthday raffle.

Two of the first residents to move in to Montgomerie Court, Mrs Julia Patterson and Mrs Margaret Robertson, had the honour of cutting the personalised birthday cake. Turning 100 in May, Mrs Patterson said: “What a splendid afternoon, it has been lovely to come together with the other residents for some delicious food and entertainment. I can’t quite believe I have lived here for almost as long as the site is old!”

Gail Richford, Montgomerie Court’s Sheltered Housing Manager, said: “My thanks to everyone involved for organising such a fantastic lunch for our 20th anniversary. It has been a really lovely afternoon and we’re already looking forward to our next birthday.”

The lunch took place on Tuesday, February 14 at Montgomerie Court.
