POLICE in North Ayrshire are seeking the help of the public following a serious crash early on Sunday morning on the A737 near to Dalry.
The incident occurred around 7.05am when police were called to a report of a road crash on the A737 road, approximately half a mile south of Dalry, involving a black Vauxhall Corsa and a white VW Golf.
Emergency services attended and the 23-year-old driver of the Vauxhall Corsa was taken to Crosshouse Hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries. He has since been transferred to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment.
The 45-year-old female driver of the Volkswagen Golf was also taken to Crosshouse Hospital, where she is being treated for serious injuries.
The road was closed for several hours as crash scene investigators conducted enquiries at the scene.
Road Policing officers are appealing for any information which may assist in their enquiries, anyone who witnessed the collision and who has not yet spoken to police, or observed either vehicles being driven on the A737 is asked to contact the Divisional Road Policing Unit at Irvine Police Office on the non-emergency number 101.
