AN Ardrossan man is running the Stirling Marathon for a charity close to his heart.

Jordan Davidson, 26, who lives in Glasgow but is originally from Ardrossan, is doing the 26 mile event in May for Alzheimer Scotland.

The restaurant manager has raised around £1,000 for the charity over the last few years, taking part in events such as the Edinburgh Marathon and Tough Mudder.

As a volunteer with Alzheimer Scotland, Jordan has seen first hand the detrimental effects the disease has on families.

He told the Herald: “It’s a charity that’s close to my heart. Friends with grandparents who suffer from Alzheimer’s have described it and it’s something that’s always stuck with me and made me want to raise money for it. It’s terrible. You work your entire life and then your mental capacities can completely deteriorate.

“I have seen the great impact it has on people who suffer from it and I want to raise as much as possible for this worthwhile cause.”

Jordan said: “The main thing is not to this as something fun and that makes all the difference. I’ve been a vegan for the last year and I can really see a difference in my health.”
