A CHARITY which helps local children learn how to play the pipes and drums has received a major funding boost with help from Tesco Kilbirnie.
The store raised £1,200 for the Garnock Valley Pipes and Drums Trust, which funds lessons for local school pupils who would otherwise not have access to tuition.
Store manager, Andrew Mexson, presented the cheque to Trust members and pipers at the store.
He said: “We have enjoyed having the young musicians playing in store, which has helped to raise the money and we are delighted to be able to fund lessons for young people who would otherwise not get an opportunity to learn how to play an instrument.”
