AN Ardrossan sheltered housing complex has been given a complete makeover - to the tune of £650,000.

The refurbishment of George Aitken Court, next to Elm Park in the town, was recently completed by James Frew.

Appointed by North Ayrshire Council, the £650,000 contract included new wet rooms for the 22 self-contained apartments ensuring they are now fully accessible, as well as upgrading works to the main lounge, the communal kitchen, toilets and guest/relatives accommodation.

The contract also included a new energy efficient boiler plant and a purpose built store to accommodate disability scooters.

Work, which started in July 2016, has now been completed to convert the former warden’s flat into a bespoke design including large wet room fitted with ceiling mounted slide rail and hoist.

Roddy Frew, Managing Director, James Frew said: “The work has greatly enhanced the facilities at George Aitken Court. The addition of new wet rooms, which are bigger and equipped with added features such as hand rails, will make daily living more manageable for residents.”
