INDEPENDENT candidate for the Ardrossan and Arran ward John Hunter is hoping to be elected to office for the third time.

A champion of independent politics, John says he ‘makes no false claims or empty promises, only that he will work tirelessly for the people of Ardrossan and Arran.

Mr Hunter has set out his stall ahead of the vote on May 4 and has already been involved in campaigning for new homes for social rent, supporting local businesses and community organisations.

He has also been a big supporting of keeping the ferry in Ardrossan during the recent successful fight to ‘Keep it A to B’.

Speaking on his time as a councillor so far, John said: “Locally, I have been very active in trying to bring prosperity and amenities to the Ward.

“I have fought to retain the status quo for the ward boundaries, for major refurbishment, remodelling and new build sheltered housing and I fought to retain the public toilets at South Beach.”

At council level, he has been chair of the audit, scrutiny and petitions committee.

He also serves on the Three Towns Independent group alongside Saltcoats and Stevenston Councillor Ronnie McNicol.
