A THREE Towns Dance School has triumphed at one of the country’s biggest competitions, after being named national champions in four categories.

The youngsters from Charlene and Siobhan Dance Academy (CSDA) were taking part in the Scotcheer National Championships at Glasgow’s SECC when they achieved their incredible results.

The dance school’s Junior Jazz Team and five of their girls – one solo, two duets – all managed to scoop national champion status at the event.

Siobhan Bryden, dance coach at CSDA, told the Herald that she was overwhelmed at the kids’ success at the competition.

Describing herself as “the proudest coach on the planet”, she said: “I was an absolute emotional wreck at the competition. I was crying.

“We weren’t expecting it. We came fourth last year for Junior Jazz, so to be national champions this time was just amazing.

“It’s such a big event, it’s one of the biggest and toughest in Scotland.

“We were against three teams that were in America and are really, really good, so we were like ‘No way!’

“As they were reading out all the runners-up before the winners, we kept expecting to hear our name but then they’d say someone else and we were like ‘Wow!’. We were all screaming.

“Everyone keeps asking me how I feel but I don’t know how I feel, it’s just great.

“All the teams did really well. Considering how big the competition is, they all did great.

“A big well done to them because they’ve worked so hard.”
