FIREFIGHTERS have been battling a blaze near to the old ICI site for over 12 hours.

Last night, fire crews were called to tackle a large fire with three engines in attendance at its height to try and bring it under control.

A spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 8.19pm on Wednesday, May 3 the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to reports of a grass fire near Ardeer Industrial Estate.

“At its height, three appliances attended and firefighters contained the fire using beaters.

“One crew remains in attendance.”
