THE Save Our Ferry campaign has been included in a shortlist of 28 local newspaper campaigns as part of Local Newspaper Week.
Running from May 15-21, Local Newspaper Week highlights and celebrates the role of local newspapers and the work that they do in each of their local areas.
For six months, the Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald campaigned to keep the Ardrossan to Arran Ferry service in North Ayrshire following a predatory bid from Associated British Ports (ABP) and Troon to poach the ferry.
The campaign saw us work closely with North Ayrshire Council, community groups and the local people to ensure this vital service remained where it has been for over 180 years.
The ‘Making A Difference’ Award is a vote open to the public and the winner of the award will be announced at the Society of Editors Regional Press Awards on Friday.
