AN Ardrossan woman celebrated a landmark birthday at the weekend as she turned 100.

Julia Paterson celebrated her 100th Birthday with family and friends at St Peter’s Church, Ardrossan.

Born on May 13, 1917 in Ardrossan, Julia, who has lived all her life in Ardrossan, is well known by the people of the town.

She said the secret of her longevity was: “Everything in moderation, I eat well, sleep well, enjoy meeting interesting people, follow the news on television, which keeps me informed about what is happening in the world. “I’ve been a football fanatic all my life, I think people need an outside interest, which keeps the brain active. I am also a lifelong church goer which helps me to keep in touch with the wider community. “I also enjoy the occasional “wee whisky”, but only when family or friends arrive.”

Julia is a great Celtic supporter, and on Sunday, when Celtic receive the Scottish Premiership Trophy, Julia will be picked up by limousine and taken to Celtic Park.

At half-time, she will be invited onto the pitch where she will be asked for her advice about managing the team.

Maybe boss Brendan Rogers should watch out...
