THE Sunday Amateur football season is drawing to a close with the various trophies being handed out to teams across Ayrshire.

Charlies Bar FC from Ardrossan won the Ayrshire Sunday Amateur Football Association Cup at Meadow Park Irvine when they beat Irvine No.1 CSC 3-1 in the final.

This victory means that the Ardrossan team, managed by Eddie Gibb and Scott Williams, have now completed the Ayrshire Filtec 1st Division league and cup double and deservedly so as they have been the league’s best team throughout the season.

The Ardrossan team were going for the Ayrshire Sunday Treble but failed in their quest when Irvine No.1 CSC got revenge for the WASAFA Cup final defeat by winning 3-1 in the Ayrshire Go Vending Sunday League Cup Semi Final last Friday evening at Ardeer Stadium. The other semi-final in this competition was played on Sunday past at Ardeer Stadium between AFC Whitehirst and lrvine Victoria Amateurs with the Kilwinning team winning the match 1-0.

Saltcoats side The Elms FC ended the season as Filtec 2nd Division League Champions, being pushed all the way by Kilbirnie United FC. The management team of Sean McMillan and Davie Brown managed to get the second Division championship sewn up with just one game remaining.

The other notable victory so far this season being Kilmarnock Supporters Club FC Victory over Dalry Tartan FC in the Wayne Bannerman Memorial Trophy Final , winning 2-0. This was the Kilmarnock teams first season in the league and they deserve a lot of credit for winning the trophy contested by seconnd Division teams.

The season is drawing to an end with the league finale being the Ayrshire Sunday Go Vending League Cup Final fixture AFC Whitehirst v Irvine No.1 CSC. The Final will be held at Ardeer Stadium this Friday, June 2, with a 7pm kick-off. Admission to the game will be £2.
