AYRSHIRE Police have been on patrol today as part of the policing operation in support of the Scotland versus England football match.

Chief Superintendent Paul Main, Divisional Commander for Ayrshire, was out and about this week meeting colleagues, partners and members of the local community.

Today, the Divisional Commander is on patrol working with colleagues in Ayrshire ahead of tonight’s match.

Police anticipate local licensed premises to be busier today as people go to watch the game and socialise.

Additional officers are on patrol today in Ayrshire with a number also supporting colleagues in Glasgow.

Officers will be working to support staff in local licensed premises to prevent disorder and to keep people safe.

Police are also advising supporters travelling to Glasgow for this evening’s game to plan ahead.

Given the recent tragic events in London and Manchester, there may be increased security in Glasgow and in and around Hampden Park, including people and bag searches so please allow plenty of time to get to the stadium in advance of the 5pm kick off.

Spectators are encouraged not to bring bags to the stadium.
