POTHOLES and cables which were left exposed in a busy Saltcoats street after an engineering firm went bust have been covered over with tarmac by the council.
Land Engineering, the company contracted to carry out development works in Countess Street, went into administration.
This resulted in the works being left unfinished.
A North Ayrshire Council spokesperson said: “This is only a temporary measure designed to open up Countess Street and allow the removal of temporary barriers. The tarmac has been laid in such a way as to allow easy removal once the remaining paving is ready to be installed.
“We are still aiming to ensure the project is completed as near to the original timescale as possible, however this temporary measure will mitigate the impact in the meantime.”
