THE Ayrshire Community Trust (TACT) last week celebrated the best in local volunteering with their Annual Volunteer ‘Oscars’ Award ceremony.

Held in the Lauriston Hotel, Ardrossan, the awards are part of Volunteers’ week and a total of eight awards were given out on the night.

The winners on the night were:

· Tremendous Trustee Volunteer – Alan Bell from Scottish Centre of Personal Safety

· Long Standing Volunteer – Bob Lochhead from Scottish Maritime Museum

· Support to the Community Volunteer – Shelley Elliott from Little Box of Distractions

· Environment and Conservation Volunteer – Bert Bettaney from Eglinton Community Garden

· Art, Culture and Heritage Volunteer – Ardrossan Castle Heritage Society

· Young Volunteers – Ardrossan Youth Association

· Health and Social Care Volunteer – Joint winners Yvonne Attwood from Saltcoats Link Up and Kenny Vallance from Recovery at Work

· Most Inspiring Volunteers of 2017 – Garnock Valley First Responders.

Staff at The Ayrshire Community Trust would like to thank our sponsors of this year’s event, Cunninghame Housing Association and North Ayrshire Council – if it wasn’t for their continued sponsorship we wouldn’t be able to acknowledge the tireless effort of Volunteers in North Ayrshire. They would also like to thank Criminal Justice Services for the fantastic awards that they created for all our winners.

We would just like to say ‘Well Done’ to all Volunteers – without your contribution our communities wouldn’t be the same. You are all fantastic!
