MSP Ruth Maguire has welcomed Holyrood plan’s for new Scottish social security payments.
The first social security payments to be delivered by the Scottish Government have been outlined to parliament by Social Security Secretary Angela Constance.
Ruth said: “The Scottish Government is committed to building a social security system with fairness, dignity and respect for all at its heart, and there is no better way to show this than providing the support that they need and when they need it.”
The Increased Carer’s Allowance, to be delivered from Summer 2018, will be increasing to the same level as Jobseeker’s Allowance.
The Best Start Grant (replacing the Sure Start Maternity Grant) is to be delivered by summer 2019 with a oneoff grant of £600 for the first child in low income families.
Funeral Expense Assistance, to be delivered by summer 2019, will process applications within 10 days .
