SHAMED Saltcoats PE teacher George Fisher was today (Wednesday) set to be struck off the teaching register.
Fisher, who was sentenced to eight months in prison back in January after admitting to an affair with a pupil lasting five months, today agreed to be struck off at a hearing in Edinburgh.
The hearing was set to hear that he had been convicted of the criminal offence we previously reported on and that he abused his position of trust to engage in a five-month affair with a pupil who was under the age of 18.
Fisher plead guilty to a charge of repeatedly having sex with someone under the age of 18, whilst in a position of trust towards them, between June and November last year, in breach of Section 42 of the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act 2009 at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court.
He was also placed on the Sec Offender’s Register when he was sentenced.
