A 53-year-old man has been convicted of historic sexual offences against a young girl in Ardrossan.
Archibald Stewart McKinnon Thornton, of Church Lane in Arran, abused the girl on various occasions between November 22 1981 and November 21 1985 at two Ardrossan addresses.
At the time of the abuse, the girl was aged between four and seven-years-old.
Thornton used lewd, indecent and libidinous practices and behaviour towards the girl, removed her clothing and exposed her naked body, exposed himself, and performed sex acts.
Thornton denied the charge against him at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court but he was found guilty this week after trial.
He was bailed and will return to the court at a later date for trial.
