JUNIOR football stalwart Donald Reid has been honoured for four decades in the game.

The current Ardrossan Winton Rovers treasurer was recently enrolled as a Long-Service Member of the Scottish Junior Football Association, having given 40 years of service to Junior Football.

Donald (56), who lives in Largs, first got involved in the mid 70s and is as passionate about the game as he ever was.

He has been with Winton for 12 years, over two spells.

Donald, who works in the Fiscal's Office in Kilmarnock, is delighted to be honoured and said: "It's nice to be get an acknowledgement, you don't often meet people hanging around for this length of time in the game. I was with Largs Thistle for a while and joined the committee when I was 16. I became secretary at 19 - I was the youngest secretary in Scotland at that time. I was at Winton for eight years the first time and for four years since I returned. I have a real love of the Junior game and thoroughly enjoy it."

He added: "As treasurer I take care of the wages and the financial runnings of the club. I also help out the secretary Bobby Macnamara when he's not here. People think you just turn up on a Saturday but most of my stuff can be done from home - keeping the books balanced and dealing with the wages.

"I really enjoy being involved in football as it keeps me sane. Hopefully the team can do well next season."
