THE third Cafe Solace in North Ayrshire has officially opened.

The cafes, which are all volunteer run and help people in recovery have been a huge success in both Ardrossan and Irvine and now Kilbirnie has its very own.

Opened on Friday by MP Patricia Gibson, the cafe is based at the Bridgend Community Centre and Patricia Gibson said: "I was delighted to officially open the Garnock Valley branch of the award winning Café Solace in Kilbirnie last Friday.

"Café Solace in Kilbirnie is a café for the community run by volunteers in recovery. Its opening follows on from the two very successful cafés in Ardrossan and Irvine where everyone in the community can head along for a great meal at very reasonable prices.

"Councillor Anthea Dickson has been particularly active in supporting the establishment of all three cafés as has Mark Gallagher, Lead Officer, North Ayrshire Alcohol and Drug Partnership and his team. I, too, have served as a volunteer on three evenings in Kilbirnie, meeting some great folk who are working hard to put something back into the community.

"So, whether it’s for a low cost good quality meal or to find out more about support in North Ayrshire, head along to Café Solace – Your café, Oor café, Everybody’s café!"

Café Solace is at Fullarton Connexions, Church Street, Irvine every Tuesday from 5-8pm, and The Church of the Nazarene, 150 Glasgow Street, Ardrossan every Wednesday 5-8pm and Bridgend Community Centre Kilbirnie 5-7.30pm.

If you are on your recovery journey why not consider volunteering in the Café where you will meet and have the support of others in recovery and have access to training. To find out more, please contact Steph McCutcheon on 07393 314902 or 01294 443004.
