FOUR local men recently completed a mammoth golf challenge in aid of a very worthy charity.

William Muir, Alan Patterson, Mark Salisbury and Greg McGivern all work together at Chemring Energetics and embarked on a marathon day of golf at Ravenspark Golf Course last week to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The foursome started out at 4am to play four rounds of golf and were still on course at 7.30pm and they raised over £1,000 for the charity.

William said: “We started our day at 4am with thefirst tee off at 4.30am, during the first round the weather wasn’t too kind and we were soaked to the bone but as the day progressed the weather picked up and it turned out quite pleasant.

“At the end of round two Greg’s mum turned up with rolls and sausage, which was well needed as we were starving. After a quick break we were back on the course till we had finished.

“It was a great laugh from start to finish, as the four of us work together at Chemring Energetics the banter was flowing all day.

“The last putt was sunk at 7.30pm and to say we were shattered was an understatement.

“As the four of us have all been affected in some way by cancer through family we couldn’t have thought of a better cause.

“We managed to raise over £1000 pounds for Macmillan cancer support and would like to thank everyone who sponsored us and KA leisure for their generosity for letting us use the course for free.”
