ON Tuesday, July 4 West Kilbride man Roy Howat was made ‘Professor of The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland’ in recognition of his services to French piano music.
At a ceremony in Glasgow, Roy, who was a pupil of Ken Hetherington, the Principal Teacher of Music at Ardrossan Academy in the 1960s, was recognised and at the same event Darcy Bussell CBE, former ballerina and TV judge on Strictly Come Dancing, became an Honorary ‘Doctor of Dance’.
A student even held her hand over the sign to make it the “Roy Conservatoire of Scotland”
A video from the ceremony is available to view on Youtube here.
It was filmed and edited by James Willets who also provided the photographs from the day.
