A SALTCOATS woman is aiming to raise as much money as possible after she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Jackie Ballantyne received the news at the end of June, just three weeks after discovering a lump and now she wants to show cancer who is boss by organising a fundraising evening.

The night will take place on Friday, August 11 at Saltcoats Labour Club and there will be head shaving, leg waxing, music, raffles and auctions with the goal of raising a whack of cash for breast cancer research.

Jackie said: “Last year I was getting organised for my wedding and this year I am getting ready for surgery. I am only 37 and I want to raise money as well as awareness in order to get the age of those receiving a mammogram lowered.”

On the night there will be a signed Rangers shirt as well as signed Rangers and Celtic footballs and the money has already started to roll in with £50 being donated by the Saltcoats Protestant Boys Flute Band and £150 from the Ardrossan Men’s Lodge LOL 14.

Music on the night will be provided by Jackie’s husband Malcky and West Coast Discos.

A number of local businesses have already provided either raffle prizes, their services or other offers for the night and it promises to be a brilliant night.

Those wishing to attend the night or to donate should contact Jackie on 07449345900 or via Facebook where an event has been set up. There is also a PayPal account for those who wish to donate.
