A MAN has been remanded in custody after he was found guilty of sexually assaulting his sister.

The 25-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had denied the offence but was found guilty after trial at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week.

He had also previously pled guilty to assaulting and injuring his sister but his plea had not been accepted and he was tried for this alongside the sexual offence charge.

On April 13 at a property in Ardrossan, the man repeatedly asked to sleep in his sister’s bed, repeatedly tried to get into the bed, attempted to pull the covers off, touched the woman on the body sexually and uttered sexual remarks to her.

On the same date, on the road outside the same property, the man repeatedly pursued his sister, repeatedly seized hold of and pulled her by the body, repeatedly tried to pull her into the property, caused her to fall to the ground, seized her by the hair and dragged her towards the dwelling all to her injury.

Sentence was deferred until the end of the month for the court to obtain reports.

Bail was revoked and the man was remanded in custody. In the meantime, the man was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register.
