PUPILS and staff at James Reid School are celebrating after their best exam results ever.
The number of National Units taken by the 67 pupils this year has more than doubled.
Head teacher John Hamilton congratulated the pupils and told the Herald: “I think it’s fantastic. “It shows a lot of hard work and dedication from the pupils, staff and the management team over the last year.
“This year all the kids did units in at least National 2 and a lot are doing National 3 and that’s really an achievement.
“We’ve seen a 108 per cent improvement in the number of units in one year – the average number has more than doubled in a year.”
Mr Hamilton also said that the results “demonstrate the commitment to ensuring that all of our pupils have the opportunity to contribute to the design of their own learning, develop skills and see these celebrated in the form of attainment”.
He added: “Remember, SQA units and courses are not an end in themselves but rather a demonstration of our partnership working with young people and a validation of the skills which they display every day.”
