A RAMMY in an East End shop has landed a man in jail.
Scott Crossan was in the Foodmarket on Carmyle Avenue on May 1, where he spotted a man who he had previously had a feud with.
The 28-year-old walked quickly towards the man before pushing him into shelving.
He then began punching him repeatedly to the head and body.
The victim attempted to defend himself using his arms but Crossan, of Inzievar Terrace, in Carmyle, continued his assault.
The thug then picked a bottle of wine off the shelf and struck the victim to the head.
Crossan stuck the victim so hard that the bottle smashed, leaving only the bottle neck.
He then dropped the remainder of the bottle and picked up another, before striking the man on the head once again.
After the attack came to an end, Crossan left the shop and the victim locked himself in the stock room.
Crossan returned to the shop and made attempts to get at the man once again before the shopkeeper phoned the police.
Emergency services attended the scene and transferred the injured man to the Royal Infirmary where he was treated for a 1.5 inch laceration to the right of his head which had to be glued, and a 0.5 inch laceration to the left of his head.
He also had to undergo a neurological x-ray but was found to have no further injuries.
Police reviewed CCTV footage from the shop and located the accused,
Crossan responded to his arrest by saying: “For that junkie? He deserved it.”
He appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court for sentencing after pleading guilty to the attack.
His defence agent told the court that there had been a previous incident involving the complainer and that his client has showed remorse for the attack.
Sheriff Cameron told the accused that given his record for violent assaults, he had no alternative to custody.
He sentenced Crossan to five months in jail.
