PARAMEDICS assisted a man who is thought to have overdosed on heroin and collapsed in an Ardrossan café.
It is believed that the man, whose identity is unknown, had ordered food and then collapsed within the premises on Friday, August 25 at around 12.45pm. Staff called an ambulance, which arrived within around 10 minutes.
Paramedics set to work on the man, who was lying comatose on the floor. The man came round following an injection administered by ambulance staff. He then admitted to paramedics that he had taken heroin that morning.
A member of staff at the café told the Herald that she initially thought the man was drunk because he had been slurring his words when ordering his food. She then said that he suddenly collapsed on the floor.
The staff member added: “It’s disgusting. My wean could have been in here.”
