A DAD and his two adult children have raised £3,768 for the Ayrshire Hospice in memory of his late wife by climbing Goatfell with friends and family.

Around 20 people aged from 16-69 – and Oapie the dog – joined Robert Morrison, his daughter Nicole, 23, and 26-year-old son Robert, to climb Arran’s highest peak.

The fundraiser was in honour of young Robert and Nicole’s mum Teresa, who passed away from breast cancer four years ago. The event was the latest in a series of annual fundraisers the family have organised for cancer charities over the last few years.

Robert, a 53-year-old council road worker, told the Herald: “I lost my wife four years ago to breast cancer. We wanted to thank the Ayrshire Hospice nurses on the times they came to the house and for everything they did for us.”

Nicole, a dental nurse, added: “She’s sadly missed. It’s such a horrible disease and every day someone loses a loved one to it.

“We just want to thank all the nurses and for everyone for their support and donations. It’s much appreciated.”
