A MAN who drove on Arran while he was more than four times the drink-drive limit and with no insurance or licence has been banned from driving for more than three years.

Ian Moran, of Glasgow, appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week for sentencing having previously pled guilty to three charges.

Moran, 48, had 226 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood while driving at Auchrannie Resort on January 18.

The legal limit in Scotland is 50 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

He was also found to have been driving without insurance or a valid licence.

Moran was disqualified from driving for 40 months.

He was also ordered to carry out 140 hours of unpaid work and given a Restriction of Liberty Order for nine weeks.
