POLICE are investigating after a fire in Ardrossan on Sunday evening.
The blaze in the town’s Montgomerie Street took hold around 6pm as firefighters raced to the scene to tackle it.
And police believe that it was set on purpose and have kick started a probe.
A spokesperson said: “Around 6.15pm, Police were called to a fire at a property in Montgomerie Street, Ardrossan. There were no injuries and indications were that it was started deliberately and enquiries are ongoing into this incident.
A spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 6.10pm on Sunday, September 10, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to a fire at a property in Ardrossan.
“A total of four fire appliances were immediately mobilised to the scene on Montgomerie Street and proceeded to extinguish the flames with high-powered hoses.
“No casualties were reported and firefighters left after ensuring the safety of the area.”
