A 50-year-old man has been jailed for eight months after trying to break into a house by removing a cat flap.
Gary James Thornton, of New Street in Stevenston, appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week for sentencing, having previously pled guilty to one charge of Housebreaking with Intent to Steal.
Thornton tried to break into a house in Stevenston’s Glencairn area on November 9 last year.
While acting with another, whose identity is currently unknown, Thornton removed a cat flap by means of a screwdriver and by kicking it in an attempt to force open the door.
