AN EXTRAORDINARY day of live music headlined by vintage punk band, the Skids, and featuring a laser light show from Ardrossan Castle is coming to the Three Towns.

Following on from their hugely successful food bank gig, Ardrossan Music Experience (AME) presents Sound on the Sand.

The free music extravaganza will be AME’s biggest event to date and is set to take place on Ardrossan’s promenade on Saturday, September 23.

The town’s iconic castle will be lit up in a dazzling laser show in the twilight, and closing the massive event are the Skids.

Hailed by the late John Peel, the Skids emerged amidst the new wave punk scene in 1977.

Sound on the Sand kicks off at 12 noon with local band, The Pale Kids, opening the stage, and is expected to finish at around 9.30pm. Also on the bill are: Foggy City Orphan, Losing Ground, Lemonhaze, The Colin Kennedy Band, Simon Brett Band, Adam Holmes and The Embers, and JJ Gilmour and Band.

Peter McNamara from Ardrossan Music Experience, told the Herald: “It’s the first time we’ve tried an event like this and we’re trying to put Ardrossan on the map and create a centre for excellence for music.

“We’re looking for a good crowd to turn out and have a great time.”
