THREE Towns residents are being invited to meet a range of employers and employment agencies as the latest Employability Partnership Jobs Fair visits Ardrossan next week.

The one-stop-shop for employment will be at Ardrossan Civic Centre on Wednesday, October 4 from 10am-1pm.

On the day, residents can go along and chat to a range of experts who can offer them the support they need to get into employment.

Whether they’re looking to get back into work after having children, looking to take their very first step onto the career ladder, looking to find more relevant job opportunities or wanting to develop their skills and qualifications to become ‘job ready’, the event will bring together the right services to help local residents do exactly that.

A number of local businesses including Richard Healey Removals, James Frew, Thorne Travel, Morrisons, and VOCA – among many others – will also be there on the day, with some looking to fill vacancies.

The Council is joining forces with the Department for Work and Pensions, The Ayrshire Community Trust, Ayrshire Chamber, Skills Development Scotland and the Ayrshire College to host what will be the third Employability Partnership Jobs Fair.

The event was first held in Irvine in February and due to its success – welcoming over 800 attendees and 30 businesses – it has been rolled out to other parts of North Ayrshire.

Councillor Alex Gallagher, Cabinet Member for Economy, said: “As a Council, one of our most important priorities is to increase employment in the local

area. We are well aware of the challenges we face in regards to this, but are doing a great deal of work to overcome the issues and support those seeking work.

“This Employability Partnership Jobs Fair is just one in a number of ways we are providing assistance. By teaming up with partner agencies to deliver this event, we can provide our residents with a full employability service, under one roof.

“We would strongly encourage anyone looking for employability advice and support to come along and have a chat to us and our partners – no matter their circumstances, we will do what we can to help out.”

Prior to Wednesday’s event, the Council will be providing the attending employers with information on recruitment incentives available to them if they recruit a job seeker or provide modern apprenticeship opportunities to help local young people onto the job market.

They’ll also be provided with information and guidance on the upcoming roll-out of Universal Credit which will come into effect on November 22.
