AMBITIOUS new plans for one of North Ayrshire’s fastest growing clubs have been revealed - and it is their biggest and boldest move yet.

North Ayrshire Athletics Club are dreaming big as they aim to bring an indoor athletics facility to the area.

A group dedicated people are working together to create a feasibility study and business plan for the new facility.

They plan on meeting around once a month and work will be done remotely around other commitments.

A spokesperson for the club said: “North Ayrshire Athletics club are proud to be regarded as one of the most forward thinking and progressive sports clubs in the country. Since the small improvement in the clubs facility made possible by the donation of games legacy funds from the 2014 commonwealth games saw the club membership and success grow on and off the track on an unprecedented scale.

“It’s always been the clubs boards vision to provide an indoor training facility for not just the club but the wider community to enjoy. The success from the investment in 2014 is a clear indication that facility improvement brings with it increased opportunities for our community.

“The club are at the very early stages of looking into the feasibility of building a purpose built indoor facility over a three phase programme allowing athletes of all ages to train in all weather conditions.

“A highly talented working party has been assembled from the local community which includes architects, structural engineers, finical planners, complains officers and project managers hope to be able to deliver this new sporting facility for the full community really enjoy for generations to come.”
