THE Ardrossan Coastguard Rescue Team was called out last Wednesday in response to a multi-agency incident in Ayr.
The team was tasked to assist after reports of a possible person in the water in the River Ayr. A search was launched including Police, Fire & Rescue, Troon Lifeboat, Coastguard Rescue Teams from Ayr and Ardrossan and the Prestwick-based Coastguard Search and Rescue helicopter.
An extensive search was thereafter conducted from the land, sea and air by all agencies involved.
As the Ardrossan team arrived on scene to liaise with colleagues from Ayr Coastguard Rescue Team, the first informant attended back at the scene and could positively identify a household item recovered from the river as was what they had previously spotted.
The call was thereafter classed as a false alarm with good intent and all resources were subsequently stood down.
