JAMES Reid School in Saltcoats this week announced a new link up with a community project and their catering team.

And the pupils will provide top quality lunches for the users of the HOPE Project over the coming months leading up to Christmas.

The school, in conjunction with CLASP (The Community Action and Support Project) and their HOPE Project will see the newly formed team comprising of Senior Phase pupils who will initially provide three events over October, November and December with events to be scheduled for the new year.

The HOPE Project provides a wide range of community services for over 50’s and all concerned believe that this new cross-generational cooperation will greatly benefit those involved.

John Hamilton, Head Teacher of James Reid, said: “This is a very exciting project for James Reid, as a community, the link between food and health is so important and we want all of our children and young people to understand, appreciate and have fun with great food.

“Through linking with the community we hope, ultimately, to involve our parent volunteers and reach out to expand and improve opportunities for everyone around food and community.”

Cathy McGregor, the HOPE Coordinator, added: “CLASP are delighted to build on this opportunity to work collaboratively with the young people from James Reid School and we will work together to provide inclusions for our older community.”

Each lunch will be a three-courser with a choice of soups, two mains and two desserts. Unlimited tea, coffee and water will also be provided for the price of £3.50 or £4 to be included in the post-lunch raffle. Services will began at 12pm and end at 1.30pm on Monday, October 30, Monday, November 27 and Monday, December 18.

Tickets are limited and available from the James Reid School Office or by calling 01294 467105.

It is over 50s only unless you would like to bring along a friendly senior for a treat.
