Drugs with an estimated street value of over £6,000 have allegedly been seized by Locality Policing Officers in Beith.

Acting in response to concerns raised by the local community regarding drug dealing and drugs misuse in the area, officers were granted a search warrant by a sheriff.

Officers recovered a quantity of alleged class B drugs during a search of a property in Blackthorn Avenue at around 7.50am on Saturday, October 7.

A 30-year-old man was arrested for allegedly being concerned in the production and supply of controlled drugs and a full report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Sergeant Murdoch, of the Garnock Valley Locality Policing Team, said “Local people have told us that drug dealing and drugs misuse is one of their top priorities.

“With the ongoing support of local people we will continue to get more drugs off our streets and bring those involved in the supply of drugs to justice.
