THE Annual General Meeting of Archaeolgy Scotland will be held in Ardrossan this weekend.
Taking place on Saturday in the Ardrossan Civic Centre, the meeting will see historical presentations, displays by local groups and it will culminate with a tour of Ardrossan Castle.
George McGrattan, of the Ardrossan Castle Heritage Society, will talk about the History, Work and Achievements of the Society with a PowerPoint presentation following two other presentations in the morning.
The agenda for the day is:
10am - Registration with tea and coffee
10.30am - Welcome by Archaeology Scotland President, Beverley Ballin Smith
10.40am - Kevin Grant, Historic Environment Scotland (HES): ‘The Streaming Ocean of the Roadways’: Hebridean Gaels and the Sea in the early 19th century.
11.20am - Tessa Hill, Archaeology Scotland Board Member: ‘Charitable Legacies – The Potential for Archaeology Scotland’s Members’
11.30am - George McGrattan, Ardrossan Castle Heritage Society (ACHS): ‘The History, Work and Achievements of Ardrossan Castle Heritage Society’
12pm - Presentation of Heritage Hero Certificates for participation in Ardrossan 1st Parish Church Investigation and Ardrossan Castle Carnival
12.20pm - AGM Business
1pm - Buffet lunch and viewing of displays by local groups.
2pm - The Walking Tour: A guided tour of Ardrossan Castle.
