A 21-year-old man, who approached people in cars in Kilwinning while shouting that he had a knife, has been jailed for 10 months.

Ross Malcolm Alexander Tait appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week from custody.

Tait, from Irvine, behaved in a threatening or abusive manner on September 2 at Broomlands Drive in Irvine and in a police vehicle to Saltcoats Police Office and then on route to Crosshouse Hospital. He shouted, swore, and repeatedly struck his head against the inside of the vehicle.

On October 8, Alexander behaved in a threatening or abusive manner at Dalmahoy Court in Kilwinning while he was on bail.

The 21-year-old shouted, swore, repeatedly stated he was in possession of a knife, walked onto the roadway and pulled at door handles of stationary cars which were sitting at traffic lights.
