A PAIR of Stevenston siblings are taking the plunge this New Year in memory of their tragic uncle.

Shenies Townsley, 18, and her younger brother Jason, who live in Stevenston, will be one of almost 100 people so far who have bravely signed up to take part in the Polar Plunge at Irvine Beach on New Year’s Day.

The duo will be raising money in memory of their uncle George McPhee who tragically took his own life last month.

Shenies said: “We just want to take the upset that we are feeling and do something good with it. If it can help one person or stop one family going through what we have, then it will be worth it.”

They have set a target of £500 for Grassroots Suicide Prevention and

Shenies added: “It won’t bother me doing it, I just want to get it done and if it can help then it is worth it. If he can see us up there, I know he will be laughing.”

Shenies is also arranging t-shirts and charity buckets with the help of local shops.
