DRUGS worth an estimated £25,000 have been seized after a raid in Ardrossan.

It's claimed that 603 grams of the drug, thought to be heroin, along with a small quantity of herbal cannabis and 700 tablets, which are undergoing further analysis, was seized at an address in Rashley Square yesterday (Monday) afternoon after officers from the locality policing team exercised a warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Three people, a 47-year-old man, a 52-year-old woman and a 26-year-old woman were all charged in connection with the raid.

A 43-year-old man was also stopped in the area and was found to be in possession of alleged drugs and an alleged weapon.

Inspector Colin Convery, Saltcoats Locality Team, said: “This is an outstanding outcome for the community who have highlighted Drugs as a major concern.

"As a direct result of the information we have received from the people of Ardrossan we have recovered over £25,000 of controlled drugs and four people are now the subject of formal court proceedings. I would expect the impact will be felt throughout North Ayrshire as a result of this significant recovery.

"This demonstrates Police Scotlands commitment to acting on the information received from the public. We will continue to focus on tackling drugs, and drug related crime, across the Three Towns."

All four were due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court today (Tuesday).
