THE railway bridge over Ardrossan South Beach will be closed to drivers for seven weeks early in the New Year.
The road, which provides one of the main links between the top and bottom of Ardrossan as well as routes to Saltcoats, Stevenston and beyond will close next week for waterproofing works to be carried out by North Ayrshire Council.
Local access will still be available to the car park at South Beach Railway Station and pedestrians will still be able to use the bridge during the works.
A North Ayrshire Council spokesperson said: “We are carrying out essential improvements to the railway bridge at South Beach Road, Ardrossan, which will require diversions to be put in place during the duration of the works. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.”
