POLICE are on the hunt after a woman was assaulted in her own home in Ardrossan late last night.
Around 11pm, a 30-year-old female was assaulted within her home address in the town's Montgomerie Street and was taken to Crosshouse Hospital where she was treated for head injuries before being released.
Police were called to the incident around 1.15am this morning (Wednesday) and they are appealing for witnesses to the incident.
Inspector Colin Convery, Saltcoats Locality Policing Team, said: "We are currently investigating a particularly violent incident which took place within an address in Montgomerie Street, Ardrossan.
"Police enquiry is ongoing at this time and I would appeal for any witnesses to contact Police Scotland on 101 with any information they may have.
"Please quote incident 145 of today's date"
"I have deployed additional patrols into the area."
