AUTHOR Claire McFall paid a visit to Ardrossan Academy last Thursday, under the banner “Bringing Books to Life”.
She talked to S2 pupils about her inspirations for her stories, what it’s like to have the job of a writer, and the mythology behind her stories.
The event was joint funded by Ardrossan Academy and Creative Scotland’s Live Literature Funding. This scheme is managed by Scottish Book Trust.
The fund exists to bring the work of Scottish fiction writers, playwrights, poets, storytellers to every corner of Scottish society including schools, libraries, writers groups, additional support needs organisations, community groups and literary organisations.
The scheme subsidises up to 1,200 writer events around the country each year, reaching an average annual audience of over 50,000 people.
Mrs Vaughan, Learning Community Librarian said:“We are delighted Claire McFall came to Ardrossan Academy to inspire and enthuse our pupils. The Book Club in particular enjoyed her award winning novel Black Cairn Point and so are excited to hear her speak.
“Live Literature funding is a very valuable resource for Ardrossan Academy as it enables us to increase our pupils’ ability, confidence and enjoyment in reading and writing and encourage them to include a diverse range of authors.”
